Before & After Your Treatment

  • If medically safe for you, avoid alcohol for 24 hours and minimize blood-thinning supplements (fish oil, vitamin E, ginkgo) for 48 hours prior to reduce bruising. Never stop a prescription medication (including blood thinners) without approval from your prescribing physician.
  • Discontinue retinoids and exfoliating acids 3 days prior.
  • Avoid excessive sun and arrive without sunburn in the treatment area.
  • If you have a history of cold sores (herpes simplex), let us know when booking. An outbreak can be triggered by treatment, and a preventive antiviral prescription can be arranged through our nurse practitioner.
  • Disclose your full medical history and all medications to N.P. Charlotte Osler.

Arrive with clean skin and no makeup. After cleansing and topical numbing, a series of small superficial microinjections is placed across the treatment area. Each one feels like a tiny pinch, and small raised blebs or wheals at the injection points immediately afterward are normal and expected; they absorb over the next 24 to 48 hours.

  • Small bumps at injection points settle within 24 to 48 hours; mild redness, tenderness, or pinpoint bruising can last a few days.
  • Do not touch, massage, or apply pressure to the area for 24 hours.
  • No makeup for 24 hours.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, hot tubs, and pools for 48 hours.
  • Apply SPF 30+ daily and avoid direct sun for 1 week.
  • Results build over a series: most protocols involve 3 or more sessions spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart, with skin quality improving progressively over 2 to 3 months.
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding: Mesotherapy treatments are deferred.
  • Fish allergy: PDRN is derived from salmon DNA; a known fish or polynucleotide allergy must be disclosed and may rule out this treatment.
  • Active infection, cold sores, or open lesions in the treatment area: Treatment is postponed until resolved.
  • Bleeding or clotting disorders, or anticoagulant therapy: Requires assessment; may not be suitable.
  • Autoimmune conditions: Requires individual assessment by our NP.
  • History of keloid or hypertrophic scarring: Requires assessment.
  • Isotretinoin (Accutane) within the past 6 months: Treatment is deferred.
