Before & After Your Treatment

  • Discontinue retinoids (Retin-A, Tretinoin, retinol) and exfoliating acids (AHA/BHA, glycolic, salicylic) 48 to 72 hours prior to your appointment.
  • Avoid excessive sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanner for 72 hours prior. We cannot treat sunburned skin.
  • Avoid other facial treatments, peels, or dermal fillers in the treatment area for 2 weeks prior.
  • Avoid waxing, laser hair removal, or depilatory creams on the treatment area for 48 hours prior.
  • If you have a history of cold sores (herpes simplex), let us know when booking. An outbreak can be triggered by treatment, and a preventive antiviral prescription can be arranged through our nurse practitioner.
  • Please disclose all skincare products, medications (especially isotretinoin/Accutane, current or within the past 6 months), and any recent cosmetic treatments during your consultation.

Arrive with clean, product-free skin if possible; no makeup is ideal. Come well hydrated. The HydraFacial handpiece feels like a cool, wet vortex moving across the skin with light suction; it is comfortable for nearly everyone, and most people find it relaxing. You will see the treatment solutions and what was lifted from your skin at the end, which is oddly satisfying. Your treatment includes LED light therapy; you will simply relax under the panel with protective eyewear.

  • Your skin will look noticeably brighter immediately. There is no downtime, and any mild flushing settles within an hour or two.
  • Mild redness or warmth for a few hours after treatment is normal and resolves on its own.
  • Avoid makeup for the rest of the day; let your skin breathe overnight.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, hot tubs, and swimming pools for 24 hours.
  • Do not use retinoids or exfoliating acids for 48 to 72 hours after treatment.
  • Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily and avoid prolonged direct sun for 72 hours.
  • Avoid waxing or other hair removal on the treated area for 72 hours.
  • Stay well hydrated and follow any product recommendations from your aesthetician to extend your results.
  • Active skin infection or open lesions in the treatment area: Treatment will be postponed until fully resolved, including active cold sores.
  • Sunburned or significantly irritated skin: We cannot safely treat compromised skin; please reschedule.
  • Recent isotretinoin (Accutane) use: Tell us if you are taking it now or have within the past 6 months so we can adjust or defer treatment appropriately.
  • Known allergies to skincare ingredients: Please disclose all product and ingredient allergies before treatment.
  • Recent facial surgery, laser, or injectables in the area: Depending on timing, we may modify or postpone your facial. Please disclose all recent procedures.
  • Uncontrolled skin conditions in the treatment area: Active flares of eczema, psoriasis, or rosacea may need to calm before treatment.
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding: Most of our facials can be adapted; please tell us in advance so ingredients (such as certain acids) can be swapped for pregnancy-safe alternatives.
  • Active, severe acne flare or recent oral steroid use: Suction and exfoliation may aggravate acutely inflamed skin; we may adapt or defer.
  • Shellfish or aspirin sensitivity: Some HydraFacial boosters contain related ingredients; disclose these allergies so boosters can be selected safely.
